Dona H. (Hoch) Helm, 82, of Shippensburg, passed away the morning of Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at her home with her loving family by her side.
She was born on August 2, 1939 in Newburg, a daughter of the late Richard E. and Eleanora E. (Bricker) Hoch.
Dona was a 1957 graduate of the Shippensburg High School. She was a longtime active member of the Shippensburg First Church of God where she was a youth Sunday School teacher for over 30 years, participated in the church choir, and was a listener for Bible Adventure.
Dona was a previous chaplain with the Civic Club, dedicated over 30 years in Shippensburg at the voting polls doing voter registration, was a Shippensburg parade register volunteer, and involved with the Shippensburg Community Fair. She was an original member of the Nine Sharps and sang in the All Eastern State Chorus, District Chorus, and the King’s Trio. She enjoyed coloring, word searches, and performing local area monologues.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Terry L. Helm, who she married on February 21, 1960. Also surviving are two daughters, Karen (Mark) Reed and Leah Helm, both of Shippensburg; two grandsons, Baden (Kristen) and Luke Reed; and numerous nieces and nephews of three generations.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Wanda Sommerville and A. Louise Lytle.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 16, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg with Pastor Rodney Bistline and Pastor Heidi Guyer officiating. Burial will follow at the Ridge Cemetery. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
