Dominique Francoise Henderson, 65, of Newburg and Shippensburg, passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by her husband and sons on January 23, 2011. Her frame contained a heart so full of love that one would have thought she was 100 feet tall. He family and friends, through blood or otherwise, spanned Europe, Africa, and the United States.
She was born in Brittany-sur-Orge in France at the end of the second world war, ushering in an era of peace to the world. She always remembered that only love can bring peace and freedom to the world. It was a mission she willingly accepted.
She taught the uneducated in Africa, fought for civil rights in Atlanta, and loved everyone she came across in the process. At each step in her journey, she used love, kindness, and compassion. She will be remembered not just by her actions, but by the changes she made in men’s hearts. We have seen first-hand, her ability to take a bruised and battered soul and transform it into a beacon of strength and courage.
Her wishes were not to mourn the loss of a wife, mother, and dear friend, but to celebrate life and all the wonderful things that accompany it. We ask you to join us in remembering her as a beautiful woman who was always loving, laughing, dancing, and bringing joy to everything she touched. We know that she is not gone, for her love remains within the hearts of everyone who knew her.
Dominique is survived by her loving husband, three sons, and hundreds of friends too numerous to list. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to your favorite charity which provides music, art, love, and comfort to those who need it most.
A graveside memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, January 30, 2011, in the Spring Hill Cemetery, Shippensburg. Also, there will be a gathering to celebrate Dominique's life on Saturday, February 5, 2011, at a time and place yet to be determined. The Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, Inc., Shippensburg, has been entrusted with her funeral arrangements.
