Dixie L. Whitsel, 87 of Shippensburg, passed away Sunday, June 10, 2018 at the Chambersburg Hospital.
She was born March 22, 1931 in Pittsburgh, PA. Dixie was a daughter of the late Blain Booth and Eleanor Whited Lanning.
She retired from the Letterkenny Army Depot. Dixie was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Burt J. Asper American Legion Post # 46, AMVETS Post # 224 and the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge # 842 all in Chambersburg and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Durff-Kuhn VFW Post # 6168 Shippensburg.
She is survived by one son, James L. Whitsel of Shippensburg, two daughters, Linette G. (Michael) Horst of Harrisburg and Tina L. Whitsel of Mercersburg, 8 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her mother she was preceded in death by one son, Landis B. Whitsel, her step-mother, Della Bowers and ex-husband, James P. Whitsel.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 14, 2018 at 11 a.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, Shippensburg. Officiating will be the Rev. James O. Bolich. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery. A viewing will be held Thursday morning one hour prior to the services.
