Dianna (Diane) Lynn Middlekauff, 72, passed away Friday, September 15, 2023 at her home in the company of family members.
Born December 28, 1950, she was the daughter of the late Merle W. and Mildred I. Smith Unger.
Married to the late George E. Middlekauff on December 8, 1967, Diane is survived by a son Brian A. Middlekauff; grandson Zane A. Middlekauff; granddaughters Zoe and Sophia Middlekauff and one great-granddaughter, Esme Kruger.
She is also survived by sisters and brothers, Virginia R. Piper, Donna L. Dague, Holly L. Smith, Merle W. Unger Jr., Roberta E. Stanbaugh, Debra A. Gress, David P. Unger, Barbara F. Batley, Laurel R. Gordon, Joseph N. Unger, and the late Nicholas P. Unger.
Diane attended Big Spring High School. She worked as a seamstress at the Stanley Company in Chambersburg, PA, as a nursing home caregiver, and eventually retired from Volvo in Shippensburg, PA. Having a strong faith, her kindness and honesty helped her raise and inspire many foster children over the years.
She valued all family members and welcomed anyone into her home. She was a driving force behind the family Christmas parties, reunions, and numerous other family events. Diane loved flowers, nature, wildlife, and watching birds. She also loved and put great effort into seeing that all people have a good time. A side of her that she expressed her sisters and brothers of also having and were very much a big part of supporting and helping her be, this kind of person.
Diane touched the lives of many and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
The Fogelsanger-Bricker funeral home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg, has been entrusted with her funeral arrangements. A celebration of Diane’s life will be held at a later date and time.
