Debra J. Higgins

Debra J. “Deb” Higgins, 66, of Spring Run, departed this life on the afternoon of Sunday, February 23, 2025, at the WellSpan Chambersburg Hospital.

She was born on October 26, 1958, in Chambersburg, a daughter of the late Frederick L. and Joan C. (Head) Shank.

Deb was a homemaker throughout her life. She loved all children and provided child care in her home for many children over many years. Deb was a huge fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers. She enjoyed playing Monopoly Go and watching Naked and Afraid on television. In her younger years, Deb liked to go bowling and play BINGO. She also loved eating sea food and having her tea and coffee. Most importantly though was time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by three children, Matthew D. Ott and wife Tara of Waynesboro, Nathan A. Ott and wife Chasidy of Chambersburg and Alexandria F. Hill and husband Kyler Wood of Spring Run; three siblings, Rick D. Shank and wife Gwenda of Newburg, Stephanie S. Shaw of Shippensburg, and Jamie L. Alexander and wife Heather of Lock Haven; two step-sisters, Bonnie Vaughn and Sherry Weaver and husband Butch, both of Shippensburg; eight grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Her funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg. There will be no public viewing, visitation, or funeral service. Interment will also be private.
