Dean Estep

Dean W. Estep, Sr., 93, a resident of Providence Place, Chambersburg, departed this life on the morning of Saturday, November 21, 2015.

He was born on August 6, 1922, in Mt. Union, Huntingdon Co., a son of the late Elby and Mamie Price Estep. Dean was a U.S. Army veteran of W.W. II. He married Ms. Betty Etter on November 28, 1941, in Hagerstown, MD. She preceded him in death on June 10, 1994.

Dean worked for 41 years as a truck driver at the Letterkenny Army Depot, from the time he was honorably discharged from the Army. He was a long-time member of the Durff-Kuhn V.F.W. #6168, Shippensburg. In his free time Dean liked to be outdoors; hunting, fishing, and gardening. He was a wonderful artist, who had a special talent for drawing trees. He enjoyed carving walking sticks on which he carved intricate nature scenes and wildlife. Dean also liked Corvettes and always made sure he had a new one every few years.

He is survived by his daughter, E. Diane (Harold McMullen) Estep-McCoy of Shippensburg; three grandchildren, Amy (Mark) McCoy-Heckman, Scott (Cheryl) Estep, and Dustin (Kathy) Estep, all of Chambersburg; seven great grandchildren, Emily Estep, Wade Estep, Paige Estep, Chase Heckman, Katelyn Estep, Kortney Estep, and Kendolynn Heckman; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his parents and spouse, Dean was preceded in death by his son, Dean W. Estep, Jr.; three brothers, Paul, Bob, and Harold Estep; and his sister, Thelma Hawn.

His funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Wednesday, November 25, 2015, at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, Inc., Shippensburg. Chaplain Bruce Hansen will officiate. Interment, with military honors conducted by the Shippensburg Area Veterans Council, will follow in the Roxbury Cemetery. Viewing will be Tuesday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at the funeral home.
