David Moritz

February 17, 1945 — April 15, 2023

David L. Moritz, 78, of Shippensburg, departed this life on the morning of Saturday, April 15, 2023, at WellSpan Chambersburg Hospital.

He was born on February 17, 1945, in Thornton, Iowa, a son of the late Irvin and Vera Moritz. David married Juanita A. Reed on April 3, 1971.

David worked for the former Ingersoll Rand Co., now Volvo, for the majority of his life, retiring as a supervisor. During that time, he was sent to Canada for five years to help work on opening a new factory. David was a member of the Orrstown Lodge No. 262 F. & A.M. for fifty years.

In his free time he enjoyed hunting and fishing. David was very handy and liked to do remodeling projects and work around the house. He also built and sold his own woodstoves for a period of time. After retiring, he and Juanita put together a truck and pick-up camper and spent fourteen years driving around the entire country. Checking back in every so often in Shippensburg before heading back out to travel again.

In addition to his wife of fifty-two years, Juanita, he is survived by a daughter; two sons; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; a brother; and several nieces and nephews.

David was preceded in death by his parents.

His funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg. There will be no public viewing, visitation, or funeral service. David will be laid to rest alongside his parents in the Pleasant View Cemetery in Thornton, Iowa.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter, Chambersburg.
