David E. “Dave” Hartman, 72, of Newburg, passed away the evening of Monday, May 1, 2023 at his home with his loving family by his side.
He was born on February 25, 1951 in Lancaster County, a son of the late David H. and Leona M. (McMullen) Hartman. He married Donna R. Yocum on July 26, 1969. The two have been together since they were 15 years old. Dave was a member of the Middle Spring Presbyterian Church.
Dave retired as a painter from the former Ingersoll Rand Company in 2004. He also previously worked for TB Woods and Exxon on the Pennsylvania Turnpike. Dave had a passion for music and enjoyed playing bass in a Bluegrass band with his father-in-law and uncles. Dave was a fan of Stephen King novels and enjoyed listening to Simon & Garfunkel, Michael Jackson, and the Beatles. He was a hardworking man that loved and cherished spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife, Donna, he is survived by two daughters, Shawna (Greg) McMullen and Jennifer (Rodney) Kelso; four grandchildren, Lindsay (Ryan) Evanchak, Zachary (fiancé Nicola) McMullen, Alyssa Kelso, and Austin Kelso; two great-grandchildren, Gavin and Nolan; two siblings, Mark (Amy) Hartman and Becky (John) Gehres; numerous nieces and nephews; and close family friends, Ben and Sue Kaufman.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Steve Hartman.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, May 7, 2023 at 3:30 p.m. at Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg with Pastor Bruce Levy officiating. Burial will follow in the Otterbein Cemetery. A viewing will be held Saturday evening from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Sunday.
