Darlene A. Porter, 77, a resident of Green Ridge Village and formerly of Shippensburg, died Monday, October 12, 2015 in the home.
She was born November 28, 1937 in Chambersburg, Franklin County, Pennsylvania. Darlene was a daughter of the late Raymond and Rose Mumma Porter.
She was a member of the Prince Street United Brethren Church in Shippensburg. Darlene retired as an Elementary School Teacher from the Carlisle Area School District. She was a member of the Pennsylvania State Education Association and the Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees. Darlene was a 1959 graduate of Shippensburg University and was a member of both the PHI NU Epsilon Sorority and the Shippensburg University Alumni Association.
In addition to her parents, Darlene was preceded in death by four brothers, Harold L., Gerald L., Charles D., and Clarence Porter and one sister, Millie Porter. She is survived by a number of nieces and nephews.
Memorial graveside services will be held Thursday, October 15, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. in the Spring Hill Cemetery, Shippensburg. Officiating will be The Rev. James O. Bolich. There will be no viewing or visitation.
