Darlene “Dee Dee” Fisher, 73, of Shippensburg, departed this life on the afternoon of Wednesday, June 28, 2017, at her home.
She was born on February 10, 1944, in Chambersburg, a daughter of the late Jule ‘Bud” and Mary E. Griffith Frelin. Darlene was a 1962 graduate of Shippensburg High School. She married George A. Fisher, Jr., on March 28, 1964, in the Hopewell (McKinney) United Methodist Church, Newburg.
Darlene worked as an administrative assistant at the Letterkenny Army Depot for thirty five years, retiring in 1994. She was a member of the Durff-Kuhn V.F.W. Post #6168 Ladies Auxiliary and an active member of the Toys of Time Car Club. Darlene enjoyed fishing, painting baskets and crocks, and playing BINGO, and also attending the sporting events of her grandchildren. She was very well known for her cooking and baking skills and for her love of chocolate.
In addition to her husband of fifty three years, George, Darlene is survived by three children, Georgia D. (Gregg) Cerrone of Roxbury, Michael L. (Michele) Fisher of Pleasant Hall, and Chad D. (Heather) Fisher of Orrstown; six grandchildren, Justin and Benjamin Ile, Michaela and Mason Fisher, and Delaney and Addyson Fisher; one great grandson, Bryson Ile; one sister, Juanda Frelin; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Darlene was preceded in death by two siblings, Joel Frelin and Shirley Ott; son-in-law, Brian Ile; and granddaughter, Stephanie M. Ile.
A visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., on Monday, July 3, 2017 at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg. Private interment will follow in the Otterbein Cemetery with the Rev. Dr. Francis H. Norton officiating.
