Darcy M. Mowers, 65, of Pleasant Hall, departed this life on the evening of Monday, August 5, 2019, at her home.
She was born on November 29, 1953, in Chambersburg, a daughter of Clifford M. and Jeanne E. (Miller) VanScyoc. Darcy was a 1971 graduate of CASHS and a 1973 graduate of Hagerstown Business College earning a degree in the Medical Secretarial field. She married Dennis L. Mowers on September 22, 1973 in Hagerstown, MD.
Darcy was employed as a secretary at both the Letterkenny Army Depot and the Mechanicsburg Naval Supply Depot for thirty-eight years. She was a member of the Salem Lutheran Church, Pleasant Hall, and served for many years on its church council as the treasurer. In her free time, Darcy enjoyed watching almost any type of sport. She was a big fan of both the Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies. Darcy also loved to spend time in the company of her cat, Mr. Boots.
In addition to her parents and her husband of forty-six years, Dennis, she is survived by her son, Daniel L. Mowers of Boiling Springs; her grandson, Aiden D. Mowers of Boiling Springs; her sister Necia R. Doyle and husband Bazil F. Jr., of Newburg; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, August, 10, 2019, at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg. Pastor Ruth Smith will officiate. Interment will follow in the Pleasant Hall Cemetery. Viewing will be Friday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Saturday morning at the funeral home.
