Danna Charles Rhone, 84, of Shippensburg, departed this life in the early morning hours of Thursday, October 15, 2020, at his home.
He was born on December 27, 1935, in Shippensburg, a son of the late Harry A. and Anna M. (Perry) Rhone and married Blanche M. Lynch on May 18, 1957 in Hagerstown, MD.
Danna worked in boiler maintenance at the Letterkenny Army Depot retiring in 1994. He then worked for PMI Facility Services doing lawn maintenance, a job that he truly loved. Danna really loved mowing grass.
In his free time, Danna enjoyed being outdoors as much as possible. He loved to go fishing and just animals in general, watching humming birds at the feeder and the deer coming to visit his back yard. Danna enjoyed going to auctions and hunting for the old oil lanterns that he liked to collect and he always loved to tell stories and talk about the good old days.
He was a member of the Durff-Kuhn V.F.W. Post #6168, Shippensburg. Danna was also a life member of the American Legion Post #421, Newville, Minnequa Social Club and Hub City Club, both of Shippensburg.
In addition to his wife of sixty-three years, Blanche, he is survived by three daughters, Vesta M. Yeager and husband Dennis of Shippensburg, Connie F. Hoover and husband Roger of Newville, and Patricia “Tish” M. Hilbert and husband Del of Gettysburg; eight grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; two brothers, Donald “Buck” Rhone and Leroy “Junior” Rhone, both of Shippensburg; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Danna was preceded in death by his son, Danna Eugene Rhone; a daughter, Diane Elizabeth Koser; and eight siblings, Dortha, Dorothy, Albert, Hazel, Helen, Robert, Margaret, & Esther.
His funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Tuesday, October 20, 2020, at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg. Pastor David A. Erisman will officiate. Interment will follow in the Cleversburg Cemetery. Viewing will be one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
