Daniel C. “Danny” Mixell, 65, of Shippensburg, passed away Monday, February 6, 2017 in the Chambersburg Hospital.
He was born May 2, 1951 in Chambersburg, PA. Danny was a son of the late Dean S. and Daisy Ingram Mixell.
He retired from PPG, where he was a glass processor and currently was working part-time at LaQuinta in Chambersburg. He was a graduate of the Shippensburg Area Senior High School class of 1969. Danny was of the Protestant faith. He was a member of the Hub City Club and their pool league, Minnequa Social Club, Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge # 2500, and the Oscar M. Hykes American Legion Post # 223 all in Shippensburg. Danny was a United States Army Veteran of Vietnam and served with the Army Corp of Engineers. He was an avid pool player, and enjoyed hunting, fishing and watching dirt track racing. Danny played Santa Claus for his grandchildren and many other children that called him Pappy. He was a musician for over 30 years playing with Smokey and the Blue Mt. Boys, Danny and the Trubadours, The Relations, The Multitones, Sound Investment, The Railroaders, and Sheetz and Giggles. He was always the family comedian.
He is survived by his wife Rose M. Warren Mixell; two sons, Marshall C. Mixell and his fiancee' Kendra Neil, and Jesse Daniel Mixell and his fiancee' Stephanie Weigle; one grandson, Jordan Don Mixell; three step grandchildren, Austin and Abby Neil, and Aaron Craig; one step great granddaughter, Mayze Ehrhart; one brother, Gary L. Mixell of Shippensburg; two sisters, Diane L. Bauserman of Shippensburg, and Gay R. Rhoten of Hanover.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 11, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Shippensburg with military services to follow. Officiating will be Mr. Mike Reisinger and Mr. Ed Reisinger. A viewing will be held Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be private.
