Dana L. Diehl, 69, of Carlisle, departed this life on the morning of Thursday, November, 29, 2018, at his home.
He was born on November 3, 1949, in Chambersburg, a son of Fredith Davidson Diehl and the late William Diehl and was a 1967 graduate of Shippensburg High School. Dana was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War, enlisting on August 14, 1969and honorably discharged on April 18, 1977. He married Patricia L. Foster on December 15, 1968, in Newburg, PA.
Dana worked at the Letterkenny Army Depot for over twenty-five years, retiring as a Computer Analyst in 1999. He then went to work for Penske Logistics, Carlisle, retiring from there in 2016. He also worked part-time for H & R Block as a tax preparer for many years.
Dana enjoyed going on cruses and to casinos. He was interested in his family’s geneology, and could do just about anything on a computer. Dana was also a huge fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers.
He is survived by his mother, Fredith of Shippensburg; his wife of fifty years, Patricia of Carlisle; two sons, Anthony L. (Amy) Diehl of Chambersburg and Nicholas W. (Lindsay) Diehl of Newville; four grandchildren, Megan and Morgan Diehl of Chambersburg and Kylie and Easton Diehl of Newville; two brothers, Paul and Larry Diehl; two sisters, Nancy Forrester and Dorothy Wenger; and many nieces and nephews.
Dana was preceded in death by his father.
His funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Tuesday, December 4, 2018, at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg. Pastor Lawrence Metzler will officiate. Interment, with military honors conducted by the Oscar M. Hykes American Legion Post #223, Shippensburg, will follow in the Otterbein Cemetery. Viewing will be one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
