Dale Rice

Dale Edgar Rice, 87, of Shippensburg, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 16, 2021 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

Born Saturday, September 29, 1934 in Chambersburg, he was a son of the late Harry E. and Hazel J. Myers Grable Rice.

Dale was a member of the Salem United Brethren Church, Chambersburg. He was a 1952 graduate of the Chambersburg Area Senior High School. Dale retired from Wilson College in Chambersburg.

He loved farming and working in his flower garden.

Dale is survived by his wife of 34 years, Marcia Diane Walls Rice, whom he married May 22, 1987; four daughters, Mitzi K. (Allen) Varner, Shippensburg, Sharon D. (Art) Dougherty, Fort Loudon, Amanda K. (Ronald) Daihl, Dry Run and Julie L. (Sam) Shields, Spring Run; two special granddaughters, Kirsten “Chucky” Shields and Shelby Shields, and five other grandchildren, Molly, Liza, Ronnie, Tesha, and Tyler; thirteen great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium Inc., with the Rev. Art Page officiating. Burial will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens. A viewing will be held Monday, November 22, 2021 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. and one hour to the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter, 5051 Letterkenny Road West, Chambersburg, PA 17201.
