Dale M. Ogburn, 80, of Chambersburg, passed away Wednesday, April 17, 2024 at the Wellspan Chambersburg Hospital. Because Dale trusted in the death of Jesus Christ for his Righteousness, he had confidence that after death he would be with Jesus. Thus, the family grieves, but not as those who have no hope.
Born Sunday, December 12, 1943 in Riverdale, MD, he was a son of the late Ira Lee and Helen (McDannell) Ogburn.
Dale was a 1961 graduate of Bladensburg High School in Bladensburg, MD. He was a member of the New Hope Mennonite Church, Upper Strasburg. Dale retired in 2008 from David H. Martin Excavating Company after 23 years of service.
Dale is survived by his wife of nearly 40 years, Mary Ann (Landis) Ogburn whom he married April 29, 1984; four children, Kervin D. (wife Kathleen) Ogburn, Shippensburg, Gordon P. (wife Janell) Ogburn, Ripley, OH, Suzanne C. (husband Keith) Johnson, St. Thomas, and Anthony L. (wife Deborah) Ogburn, Shippensburg; one sister, Anita (husband Philip) Sikora, Tinley Park, IL; 15 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Carol A. (Martin) Ogburn; one son, Carl J. Ogburn; two brothers, David Ogburn and Gerald Ogburn; one sister, Nadine Hauck; and one grandson, Ian Ogburn.
A celebration of life service will be held Tuesday, April 23, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. in the Air Hill Brethren in Christ Church, Chambersburg, with the Rev. Arlin Hege, Rev. Robert Kauffman, and Rev. Garnet Myers officiating.
Burial will be private in New Hope Mennonite Church Cemetery. A visitation will be held Monday, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium Inc.
