D. Joann Hancock, 84, of Shippensburg, died Saturday, October 15, 2016 at home.
She was born December 1, 1931 in Chambersburg, PA. Joann was a daughter of the late Joseph F. and Dorothea Wyent Caldwell.
She retired from the Shippensburg University in 1991 and was a United States Air Force Veteran of the Korean War. Joann was a member of the Prince Street United Brethren Church, Shippensburg and was a 1949 graduate of the Chambersburg High School.
Joann is survived by her husband Howard Hancock whom she married December 25, 1952, three sons, Terrence B. (Nan) Hancock and Kenneth W. Hancock all of Shippensburg, and Steven A. (Sandy) Hancock of Nebo., NC, two daughters, Joan C. Hancock of Fayetteville, and Tammy S. (Scott) Shroyer of Shippensburg, one brother, Sidney R. Caldwell and two sisters, Mildred R. Vantesse and Mary Jane Jones all of Chambersburg, four grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held Thursday, October 27, 2016 in the Prince Street United Brethren Church, Shippensburg at 5 p.m. Officiating will be The Rev. James O. Bolich. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the services in the church.
