Cynthia L. Merry Willis, 63, of Orrstown, PA, went to be with the Lord on Monday, March 16, 2015 at her home surrounded by her family and other loved ones after a long battle with cancer.
Born Wednesday, April 18, 1951 in Zanesville, OH, she was a daughter of the late John Edward and E. Jean Hicks Merry, of Norwich, OH.
Cynthia received her Nursing Diploma from Good Samaritan School of Nursing in Zanesville, OH, and her BSN Degree from York College, York PA. She practiced at Good Samaritan Hospital, Zanesville, OH, St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids, IA, Crestline Memorial Hospital in Crestline, OH, and the Chambersburg Hospital, Chambersburg, PA.
She also worked as a Visiting Nurse in the Carlisle Area and for Lutheran Home Care Services in the Chambersburg Area. She ended her career as a School Nurse for the Chambersburg School District.
She was a member of the Newburg United Methodist Church. She loved gardening and her animals throughout the years, especially her goats, chickens and cats.
She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Paul E. Willis, one son, Mark E. Willis (companion Helen Armstrong) of Los Angeles, CA, one daughter, Rebecca L. (husband Jason) Tuell of Orrstown, three brothers, David Merry of Columbus, OH, Larry (wife Jill) Merry and Roger (wife Peggy) Merry all of Norwich, OH, one sister, Lisa (husband, Patrick) Hipskind of Shelbyville, IN and three grandchildren, Michael, Lauren and Nicholas Tuell all of Orrstown, PA.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 21, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. in the Newburg United Methodist Church with the Rev. Steve P. Salisbury officiating. Burial will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens. A viewing will be held Friday, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Inc. and one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church.
