Clyde E. Holtry, 90, of Shippensburg, passed away Saturday, September 15, 2018 at the Chambersburg Hospital.
Born Wednesday, November 16, 1927 in Southampton Township, Franklin County, he was a son of the late Walter S. and Helen L. Hawk Holtry.
Clyde was a 1946 graduate of the Shippensburg High School. He was a member of the Messiah United Methodist Church in Shippensburg, where he worked alongside his wife as custodian, he also coached and played catcher on the church softball team. He retired in 1987 as a punch press operator from the former SKF Industries, Shippensburg.
Clyde was a life member of the Vigilant Hose Company # 52 with over 50 years of service, he was a life member of the Shippensburg Special Fire Police, a life member of the Cumberland County Fire Police Association, and the Pennsylvania Fire Police Association. Clyde was an avid sports fan.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Louise P. Wadel Holtry, whom he married December 29, 1948; three daughters, Jean M. (Willis) Redding, Collegeville, Kay E. (Michael) Deihl, Newville, and Gail L. Holtry, Shippensburg; four grandchildren, Scott L. (Rebecca) Redding, Brian P. (Jessica) Redding, Laura A. Deihl, and Sarah M. (Joshua) Faison; and three great grandchildren, Gavin, Audrey, and Sebastian Redding.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Carol Ann Holtry, who passed away April 28, 2018, and five brothers.
Funeral services will be held Friday, September 21, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium Inc., with the Rev. Steven M. Livermore and the Rev. Dr. Francis H. Norton officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service on Friday, in the funeral home.
