Clifford Myers “Cliff” VanScyoc, 92, of Pleasant Hall, passed away the morning of Thursday, July 11, 2024 at the Mercy House of Chambersburg.
He was born on July 28, 1931 in Pleasant Hall, a son of the late William J. and Fannie E. Myers VanScyoc. He married Jeanne E. Miller on October 7, 1950 in Hagerstown, MD. She preceded him in death on December 3, 2022.
Cliff was a 1950 graduate of the Chambersburg Area High School and worked as a lineman for Adams Electric Co-op in Shippensburg for 32 years, retiring in 1993. Cliff enjoyed yardwork and joining his friends at the local restaurants for breakfast.
He was a longtime member of Salem Lutheran Church in Pleasant Hall and past caretaker of Pleasant Hall Cemetery for 28 years. Cliff was a lifetime member of both the Orrstown Lodge #262 F. & A.M. and Hub City Club of Shippensburg. He was also a member of Valley Forest #145 Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Harrisburg Consistory, S.P.R.S. 32nd degree, and charter and lifetime member of Pleasant Hall Volunteer Fire Company.
He is survived by his daughter, Necia R. Doyle and her husband, Bazil F. Jr. of Newburg; one son-in-law, Dennis L. Mowers of Pleasant Hall; two grandsons; one granddaughter; one step-grandson; five great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; and three step-great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and spouse of 73 years, Cliff was preceded in death by one daughter, Darcy M. Mowers; and one brother, Robert VanScyoc.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 16, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg with Rev. Ruth Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hall Cemetery. A viewing will be held Monday evening from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Masonic services conducted at 6:45 p.m. There will also be a viewing one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.
