Clarence E. Tosten, Sr., passed away Thursday, October 3, 2024 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Born Thursday, January 23, 1941 in Shippensburg, Cumberland County, he was a son of the late Russell Walter and Maude Elizabeth Halter Tosten.
Clarence was a 1959 graduate of the Shippensburg Senior High School. He retired from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) as a heavy equipment operator with over 37 years of service.
He was a member of the Ridge Covenant Brethren Church in Shippensburg. Clarence was part owner of the Cross Arrows Hunting Camp. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, farming, and gardening.
Clarence was a huge New York Yankee and Dallas Cowboy fan. The sparkle of his eye was his grandchildren especially his great grandchildren whom he loved spending time with.
Clarence is survived by two sons, Timothy E. (wife Cindy E.) Tosten, Gassaway, WV, and C. Edward (wife Deborah) Tosten, Shippensburg; four grandchildren, Shandi E. Santos, Denver, PA, Zach E. Tosten, Elizabethtown, PA, Kayla A. Hinkle , and Danyelle N. Tosten, both of Shippensburg, PA; six great grandchildren, Caleb and Isaiah Tosten, Seeley and Shay Santos, and Leighton and Bentley (Benny) Hinkle; and one brother, Wilbur Tosten, Shippensburg.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Sarah Elizabeth Bigler Tosten, who passed away July 3, 2018; one sister, Vada Hile; and three brothers, Paul, Ray, and Harry Tosten.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 10, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at the Ridge Covenant Brethren Church, with The Rev. Leon Davis officiating. Burial will be in Ridge Cemetery. A viewing will be held Wednesday, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium Inc., and one hour prior to the service on Thursday, at the church.
