Clarence A. Keener, 88, of Shippensburg, passed away Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at Chapel Pointe, Carlisle, PA.
Born Saturday, May 14, 1932 in Shippensburg, he was a son of the late Paul Edgar and Anna Cauffman Horst Keener.
Clarence was a United States Army Veteran serving in the Korean War. He retired in 1993 from John E. Keener Inc., as a brick mason. He was a member of the Prince Street United Brethren Church, Shippensburg where he was on the Board of Trustees, served as an Usher, Youth Fellowship, and went on many mission trips.
Clarence was a member of the Bricklayers Association, the National Rifle Association, and was an avid hunter and bicyclist.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Elaine M. Heishman Keener whom he married June 14, 1952; three children, Marguerite E. (David) Elliott, Newburg, Jeffrey C. Keener, Fairless Hills, and Renee E. (Michael) Warner, Mechanicsburg; one brother, Mark (Beth) Keener, Chambersburg; one sister, Esther (Raymond) Witmer, Morgantown, WV; nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, John, Ivan and Paul Keener and one sister, Marian Martin.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 15, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Prince Street United Brethren Church, with Rev. John Shadle officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill cemetery with Military Honors conducted by the Oscar M. Hykes American Legion Post # 223 Minutemen. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
