Christina P. Alleman, 84, of Chambersburg, formerly of Shippensburg, died on Wednesday, September 29, 2010 at home surrounded by her family.

Born on October 14, 1925, in Kerkrade, Netherlands, a daughter of the late Andreas and Magdalena Spicker Ploum. Christina came to the United States in 1947, after meeting her future husband during World War II. On February 14, 1948, in Hagerstown, MD, Christina married Mr. Lester I. Alleman. He preceded her in death on June 27, 1997.

Christina worked as a sales representative for Avon and had previously worked at the former Penn Pants and L’Aigilon clothing companies. Also, she and her husband owned and operated C & L Western Wear, in Shippensburg, and continued their love of square dancing, as members of the Shippen Squares and Whirley Birds Square Dancing Clubs.

Christina was a member of the Prince Street United Brethren Church and also attended Sunday school there. She loved to travel, organizing trips for the Chambersburg Mall Walkers for 15 years. She was a committee woman for the Franklin County Democratic Party for many years.

She is survived by three daughters, Ruby L. Wenger of Chambersburg, Laverne L. (Ronald ) Wagner of Chambersburg, and Christine L. (Steve “Mick” Boyd ) Hubley of Mt. Holly, NC; two sons, Andreas L. Alleman of Chambersburg and Robert L. Alleman of Newburg; one sister, Elizabeth Heynen of the Netherlands; seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by four brothers, one sister, and a son-in-law, Edgar Wenger.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, October 4, 2010, at the Prince Street United Brethren Church, Shippensburg. The Rev. James O. Bolich and Rev. Clinton Bingaman will officiate. Interment will be in the Parklawns Memorial Gardens. Viewing will be Sunday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, Inc., Shippensburg.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Prince Street United Brethren Church at 17 North Penn St. Shippensburg, PA 17257 or Lutheran Home Care & Hospice at 2700 Luther Dr. Chambersburg, PA 17201.
