Chris H. Bock, 59, of Shippensburg, departed this life on the afternoon of Monday, December 25, 2017, at the Chambersburg Hospital.
He was born on December 4, 1958, in Chambersburg, a son of Lois B. Shank Bock and the late Howard Guy Bock. Chris was a 1976 graduate of Shippensburg High School and shortly thereafter joined the U.S. Navy, enlisting on September 2, 1976 and honorably discharged on April 1, 1994. He married Evelyn R. McMullen on May 22, 1978, in Hamben Co., TN. She preceded him in death on December 12, 2015.
Chris worked as an Anti-Submarine Warfare Avionics and Sonar Technician while serving in the Navy. After being discharged, Chris worked at the Letterkenny Army Depot; as a driver for the Roxbury Treatment Center; and most recently for Rabbit Transit.
He was an active member of the Messiah United Methodist Church, serving and volunteering in many capacities. Chris was a member of the Oscar M. Hykes American Legion Post #223, Shippensburg, and their Minutemen Honor Guard, providing military honors for fellow veterans. He was also a 32nd Degree Master Mason as a member of the Orrstown Lodge #262 F. & A.M. Chris was known to drive the Parade Marshall in Shippensburg’s community parades and umpire Little League games. He was a great caregiver for his mother and liked to play chess.
In addition to his mother, Chris is survived by two sons, Phillip C. Bock of St. Robert, MO and Justin G. Bock of Pittsburgh; daughter, Kami R. (Joshua) Moore of St. Robert, MO; granddaughter, Chelsea R. Moore of St. Robert, MO; brother, Robert (Sandra) Bock of Lancaster; and niece Nikol (Todd) Turner of Lancaster.
He was preceded in death by his father, Howard and his wife, Evelyn.
His funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Sunday, December 31, 2017, at the Messiah United Methodist Church, Shippensburg. The Rev. Dr. Francis H. Norton will officiate. Interment, with military honors conducted by the Oscar M. Hykes American Legion Post #223, will follow in the Spring Hill Cemetery. Viewing will be Saturday afternoon, from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m., at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg, with Masonic Rites bestowed at 4:30 p.m. There will also be a visitation one hour prior to the service on Sunday at the church.
