Charlotte Vaughn

January 26, 1936 — November 11, 2012

Charlotte L. Vaughn, 76 of Chambersburg, began her greatest adventure on the morning of Sunday, November 11, 2012.

Born Sunday, January 26, 1936 in Newburg, she was a daughter of the late Elmer A. and Anna Mary Halter Hurley.

Charlotte was the wife of Victor H. Vaughn, Sr. and was married 58 years.

She was a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Charles Nitterhouse VFW Post # 1599, Ladies Auxiliary of AMVETS Post # 224, and the Burt J. Asper American Legion Post # 46 all in Chambersburg. Charlotte retired from the Letterkenny Post Restaurant in 1998 after 23 years.

She was the backbone of her husband’s military career and with their three children traveled the world. Charlotte was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her family was her most prized possession. She always put everyone first. Charlotte was the love of our life and we will miss her dearly.

In addition to her husband she is survived by one son, Victor H. Vaughn, Jr. of Camp Hill; two daughters, Ilene Crouse wife of Don of Chambersburg, and Debbie Franzoni wife of Perry of Shippensburg; five grandchildren, Mike, Chrissy, Carrie, Heather, and Brian; five great-grandchildren, Austin, Kaitlin, Ethan, Cole, and Kahlan; four sisters, Esther Dunlap of Newburg, Sara Yohe of Shippensburg, Isabel Hockersmith of Newville, and Martha Fahnestock of Chambersburg.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one brother and five sisters.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 15, 2012 at 11 a.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, Shippensburg. Officiating will be The Rev. Paul K. Hauk. Burial will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens. There will be no viewing, however a visitation will be held one hour prior to the services in the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter, 2325 Country Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202.
