Charlotte B. “Char” Commerer, 71, beloved wife and mother, departed this life on the afternoon of Tuesday, March 7, 2017, at the Carlisle Regional Medical Center.
She was born on April 29, 1945, in Shippensburg, a daughter of the late William and Florence Henshaw Brinkerhoff and married George David Commerer on December 31, 1999 at their home.
Char retired from the former Hoffman Mills, Shippensburg, where she worked as a parts clerk. Earlier, she worked for the former Cressler Trucking, Shippensburg, and was always a wonderful homemaker throughout her life.
She was a life member of the Durff-Kuhn V.F.W. Post #6168, a member of the Oscar M. Hykes American Legion Post #223, and a member of the Moose Lodge #2500, all of Shippensburg. Char enjoyed collecting Elvis memorabilia and coloring.
In addition to her husband of eighteen years, she is survived by two daughters, Tina (Jack Simon) Lehman of Adkins, TX and Dena Mathews of Jacksonville, FL; two sons, Rodney Scott (Melinda) Commerer of Fayetteville and Loren Kip (Kristina) Commerer of Shippensburg; four grandchildren, Kim, Christopher, Jimmy, and Tiffany; five great grandchildren, two sisters, Janet Tarner and Shirley Ladane; many nieces and nephews; and her Yorkie, Buddy, whom she loved very much.
In addition to her parents, Char was preceded in death by one sister, Marybell Reed.
Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Saturday, March 11, at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg. The Rev. Harold E. Yeager will officiate. Interment will occur in the Spring Hill Cemetery at a later date. Viewing will be one hour prior to the funeral on Saturday at the funeral home.
