Charles W. Traxler, Jr., 79 of Forge Hill Road, Orrstown, died Thursday, October 21, 2010 in the Chambersburg Hospital.
Born June 9, 1931 in Fannettsburg, Franklin County; he was a son of the late Charles W. Sr. and Vernoll H. Markey Traxler.
He was a member of Roxbury United Methodist Church, the Lurgan Lions Club, was a Boy Scout Master and was on a District Advancement Committee for Eagle Scouts. Charles retired from the Maintenance Department of the Howard Johnson’s Restaurants on the PA Turnpike and was a United States Army Veteran of the Korean War.
He was preceded in death by his wife Keturah E. Mills Traxler who died October 30, 2004, two grandchildren; Charles W. Beltz and Tabatha Traxler, one brother and two sisters are also deceased.
He is survived by a daughter, Cherie S. Beltz and her husband Arthur, Jr. of Orrstown, a son, James W. Traxler of Missouri, six grandchildren, two great grandsons, five sisters; Minnie Taylor and Janet Holtry both of Chambersburg, Betty Catlin of Ocean Pines, MD, Alice Johnson of Fannettsburg, and Martha Wingert of Roxbury.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 26, 2010 in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home Inc., Shippensburg at 2 p.m. Officiating will be Pastor Mike Baumgardner. Burial with military services conducted by the Shippensburg American Legion and VFW Posts will be in Roxbury Cemetery. The viewing will be held Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. in the funeral home.
