Charles L. “ Chig “ Ott, 84 of Scrafford Street, Shippensburg, died Friday, January 14, 2011 in the Chambersburg Hospital.
Born January 28, 1926 in Shippensburg, he was a son of the late Stiles E. Sr. and Margaret P. Durff Ott.
Charles was of the Protestant Faith, he was a United States Army Veteran serving in WWII. He retired as a Machinist Repairman for Mack Truck in Hagerstown, MD. Charles was a life member of the Oscar M. Hykes American Legion Post # 223 where he served as Past Commander, the Durff-Kuhn VFW Post # 6168 and a member of the Shippen Squares Square Dancing Club all in Shippensburg. He loved and collected trains and clocks.
Surviving is his wife of 15 years, Mary E. Naugle Ott, two daughters; Nancy Briggshear, Norwich, NY and Charlesa Ott, one son; Douglas Ott, three brothers; John Ott, Chambersburg, Norman Ott, Warner, GA and Ralph Ott, Shippensburg, three sisters; Mary Alleman, Shippensburg, Portia Reed, Pleasant Hall and Beverly Gilbert, Newville.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, one sister and one son.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at 3:00 P.M. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home Inc. with the Rev Paul K. Hauk officiating. Burial will be in the Spring Hill Cemetery with military honors conducted by the Shippensburg VFW and American Legion Posts. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Oscar M. Hykes American Legion Post # 223 Minutemen, 100 East Dykeman Road, Shippensburg, PA 17257.
