Charles E. Newell, Jr., 71, of Shippensburg, passed away Saturday, September 30, 2023 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Born Monday, March 3, 1952 in Shippensburg, he was a son of the late Charles E. and Beatrice L. Rhinehart Newell, Sr.
Charles worked as a truck driver for Walter Brothers Trucking. He served in the Unites States Army. He loved woodworking, sitting on his front porch, and was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Constance A. “Connie” Orndorff Newell, whom he married June 6, 1970; three children, Heath E. (Holly) Newell, Kelly J. (Steven) Russell, and Mickey (Pepper Burkholder) Newell; five granddaughters, Taylor D. (Jonah) Schall, Morgan (Travis) Newell, Kara Newell, Tanyia J. (Matthew) Russell, and Kaylee K. Russell; one grandson, Ki Burkholder; two great-great grandchildren, Cullen Q. McLaughlin, and Hazel M. McLaughlin; two siblings, Charlotte (Charles) Hoover and Dave Newell; and 17 nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four siblings, Barbara Smith, Judy Snider, Joan Shank, and Richard Head.
Funeral services will be held Friday, October 6, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium Inc., with the Rev. Harold E. Yeager officiating. Burial will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens.
A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service on Friday, in the funeral home.
