Charles S. “Charlie” McKelvey, 83, of Shippensburg, passed away the evening of Friday, August 27, 2021 at the Chambersburg Hospital.
He was born on December 13, 1937 in Chambersburg, a son of the late William Holland and Hilda May (Diffenderfer) McKelvey.
Charlie enjoyed going on walks, putting puzzles together, and going fishing. He loved his dog, Bella and liked to play video games, especially bowling on the Wii. He was a life member of the Shippensburg Area Senior Center, member of the Shippensburg Community Church, and a past member of the Franklin Fire Company, Chambersburg.
He is survived by his furry companion, Bella; three sisters, Christine (Mike) Holden, Donna Leedy, and Esther Seville; a niece, Amanda (Raymond) Vasquez; numerous other nieces and nephews; and caregivers, Gloria Rosenberry, Tracy Rosenberry, Larry Rosenberry, and Terry Coy.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his foster parents, Raymond and Dorothy Morter; and his wife, Beatrice (Forrester) McKelvey.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, September 3, 2021 at 2:30 p.m. in the Parklawns Memorial Gardens. Rev. Maynard L. Jones will officiate. There will be no public viewing or visitation.
