Charles Russell “Rusty” Gregson III, age 49, of Shippensburg passed away on Tuesday, March 9, 2021.
Born September 13, 1971 in Gary, Indiana, he was the son of Charles Russell Gregson II and the late Bonnie Schroeder.
Rusty was a 1990 graduate of Mira Mesa High School in San Diego, California. He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1990 to 1998, earning the rank of Sergeant. After the Marine Corps, he moved to Pennsylvania and began his career in telecommunications. He was employed as a Network Communication Technician with CenturyLink.
Rusty’s life reflected the Marine Corps motto: Semper Fidelis (always faithful). A beloved husband, father and friend, he will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Rusty is survived by his wife, Stacy (Knepper) Gregson; two sons, Carter Gregson of Shippensburg and William Gregson of Clinton, IN; father-in-law and mother-in-law Rick and Linda Knepper of Chambersburg; brother-in-law Rodney Knepper of Shippensburg; step-father Victor Schroeder of Las Vegas, NV; sister Jeannie Koch of Las Vegas, NV and brother Jeremy Gregson of Hobart, IN. In addition to his mother, Rusty was preceded in death by his sister, Tammy Stalker.
Rusty was a member of Messiah United Methodist Church in Shippensburg, where he served as a Trustee and Sunday School teacher. He also served as an Auditor for Southampton Township, Franklin County. Rusty was a member of Cumberland Valley Masonic Lodge No. 315, Scottish Rite-Valley of Harrisburg, Shippensburg Fish & Game Association, Durff-Kuhn VFW Post 6168 and Oscar M. Hykes American Legion Post 223.
A celebration of life service will be held Sunday, March 14, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. at Messiah United Methodist Church with Rev. Bob Vizthum and Rev. Dr. Francis H. Norton officiating. Burial will be private in Ft. Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service with a Masonic Service being held at 2:45 p.m. in the church.
