Charles M. Cover, Jr., 89, a resident of Menno Haven, Chambersburg, died on the afternoon of Saturday, June 6, 2015.
He was born on September 29, 1925, in Shippensburg, a son of the late Charles M. and Carrie Cover, Sr., and married Ms. Dorothy G. Killian on July 23, 1948, in Shippensburg.
Charles was employed at the Letterkenny Army Depot, for thirty years, where he operated the Xerox machine, retiring in 1980. He was a life member of N.A.R.F.E., and both the Vigilant and Cumberland Valley Hose Fire Companies of Shippensburg. He was President of the Greene Township Lions Club on its twenty-fifth anniversary and was a member of the Prince St. United Brethren Church, Shippensburg, where he was head usher for eight years. In his free time he liked to play shuffleboard and due to his great love of fire service, spent a lot of time at the fire house.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Dorothy G. Cover of Chambersburg; two brothers-in-law, Robert L. (Sandra) Killian of Shippensburg and Earl G. ‘Whitey” (Ruth) Killian of Chambersburg; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his brother and sister.
His funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., on Wednesday, June 10, 2015, at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, Inc., Shippensburg. Chaplain Robert Keener will officiate. Interment will follow in the Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, Carlisle. Viewing will be one hour prior to the services on Wednesday, at the funeral home.
