Charles F. Alleman, 76 of Newville, passed to his eternal reward with his family by his side at the Holy Spirit Hospital on Monday, July 25, 2011.
Born November 22, 1934 in Pleasant Hall, he was a son of the late David N. and Mae I. Stouffer Alleman.
He was the owner of Alleman Electrical and was a sub-contractor for Adams Electric. Years ago Charles was employed by many companies including; Reeves Hoffman, C.H. Maslands, CV Coop, and the Surge Co.
Charles was a member of Green Spring Brethren in Christ Church and was active in their ministry, served as Sunday School Superintendent and taught adult the Sunday School Class.
He was a 1953 graduate of the former Newville High School. Charles was an avid musician. He played country and blue grass music. His family sang gospel music throughout the East Coast and Canada. The family had a radio broadcast from 1969-1978 on WSHP Radio in Shippensburg. Charles was an avid woodworker and cabinet maker. He enjoyed making intricate wooden toys for his grandchildren.
Charles is survived by his wife Betty J. Holtry Alleman who he married February 5, 1956, two sons, Charles H. Alleman and his wife Denise, and Brian D. Alleman all of Newville and his girlfriend Apryl Kane, five daughters, Karen R. Weaver and her husband Jerome of Shippensburg, Kathy S. Coy and her husband Dan of Orrstown, Kimberly D. Alleman of Shippensburg, Rev. Kelly D. Clouse and her husband Jeffrey of Newville, and Kristina L. Johnson and her husband James of Carlisle, twelve grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, three brothers, Simon Alleman of Shippensburg, Robert Alleman of Carlisle, Frederick Alleman of Newville, one sister, Carrie Ruth Negley of Newville and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one sister, Edna Mae Carbaugh.
Funeral services will be held Friday, July 29, 2011 at 10 a.m. in the Green Spring Brethren in Christ Church, 720 Green Spring Road, Newville, PA 17241. Officiating will be Rev. Kelly Clouse, Rev. Richard Lehman, Rev. Larry Strouse and Rev. Terry Burton. Burial will be in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens. The viewing will be held Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home Inc., Shippensburg and one hour prior to the services in church on Friday.
