Catherine May “Cathy” Moyer, 73, of Newport, passed away Monday, August 14, 2023 at the Chambersburg Hospital.
Born Sunday, February 26, 1950 in Wayland, New York. She was a daughter of the late Edward D. Holmes and June Lila Noragong Rauber.
Cathy was a member and very involved at the Mowersville Brethren in Christ Church. She retired after 30+ years of service from the Leer Corporation in Carlisle. She later went to work for Public Partnership in Harrisburg as an In Home Nurse.
She loved scrapbooking, yard sales, and spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by one son, Brett M. Murray and his significant other, Bonnie Hagen, of Newport; one sister, Penny A. Sommerville; two brothers, Garth J. Rauber, Sr., and John R. (wife Laurie) Rauber, all of Shippensburg; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Donald “Dutch” Moyer, who passed away June 22, 2013; one son, Brian P. Murray; and three brothers, Jack R., Nicholas F., and Raymond N. Rauber.
A celebration of life service will be held Tuesday, August 22, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the Mowersville Brethren in Christ Church, with Pastor David S. Halteman officiating. Burial will be in the adjoining Church Cemetery. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the Church.
