Catherine Meyer

Catherine A. Meyer, 71, of Shippensburg, departed this life on the afternoon of Tuesday, December 27, 2016.

She was born on January 14, 1945, in County Kerry, Ireland, the daughter of the late Edward and Catherine V. Hanlon McCarthy and married James J. Meyer on September 4, 1965, in the Bronx, NY.

Catherine was a homemaker, a loving mother to her two sons, and a devoted grandmother to her five grandchildren. Her deep love for children led her to dedicate her time to childcare in her home. In her free time she enjoyed bowling, Irish music, reading, and she was an excellent dancer. Catherine has been a member of the Our Lady of the Visitation Catholic Church in Shippensburg for the past fourteen years.

In addition to her husband of 51 years, James, she is survived by two sons, James G. (Maria) Meyer of New York and Edward M. (Beth) Meyer of Maryland; five grandchildren, Shaylan, Arianna, Daniella, Tristan, and Sydney; three siblings, Hanna McCay, Mary (William ) Reilly, and Edmund (Kathleen) McCarthy all who live in Florida; and many nieces and nephews.

Catherine was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Bridget McCarthy.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, December 31, 2016, at Our Lady of the Visitation Catholic Church, Shippensburg. The Very Reverend Fr. Luis R. Rodriguez will officiate. Interment will be held privately. Viewing will be Friday from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. and again from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg.
