Catherine Gehrett

Catherine L. Gehrett, 87, formerly of Shippensburg, late of Green Ridge Village, Newville, departed this life on the afternoon of Wednesday, May 25, 2022, at UPMC Pinnacle Carlisle Hospital.

She was born on September 18, 1934, in Waynesboro, the daughter of the late Wilbur and Madeline (Gelsinger) Thomas. Catherine married Samuel E. Gehrett on August 29, 1953. He preceded her in death on February 15, 2017.

Catherine a homemaker and also worked as a seamstress at the former Orweco Frocks and R & S Dress in Shippensburg. She just loved to sew. Catherine was a lifelong member of the Shippensburg First Church of God and its Berean Sunday School Class.

She is survived by three children, Walter “Fuzz” Gehrett and wife Linda of Newville, William Gehrett and wife Peggy of Shippensburg, and Debbie Filler and husband Larry of Enola; four grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Catherine was preceded in death by five brothers.
Her graveside funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Thursday, June 2, 2022, in the Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg. Pastor Jim Rogers will officiate. Viewing will be Wednesday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg.
