Catharine N. Martin, 90, of Shippensburg, died on the afternoon of January 15, 2013, at her daughter’s home, surrounded by her family.
She was born on August 27, 1922, in Chambersburg, a daughter of the late David and Fannie Martin Frey.
Catharine was a homemaker throughout her life and was a member of the Burns Valley Mennonite Church.
She is survived by four sons, Kenneth A. (Thelma) Martin of Marion, Ronald L (Edith) Martin of Shippensburg, Eldon E. (Sherilyn) Martin of Orrstown, and Dallas E. (Joy) Martin of Shippensburg; five daughters, Gail Y. (Galen) Martin of Shippensburg, Norma R. (Paul) Stewart of Chambersburg, Ellen M. (David) Good of Orrville, OH, Vivian (Wilmer) Funk of Chambersburg, Kathleen L. (Kervin) Ogburn of Shippensburg; her foster daughter, Esther R. Ricker of Shippensburg; three sisters, Lista Martin, Lois Martin, and Beulah Shank; one brother, Preston Frey; 66 grandchildren; 141 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Catharine was preceded in death by her husband, Harold E. Martin, who died on November 28, 1994; two sons, Jay and Lynn Martin; two brothers, Aden and Irvin Frey; one sister, Miriam Horst; and one granddaughter.
Her funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Friday, January 18, 2013, at the Rowe Mennonite Church, Shippensburg. The Burns Valley and Rowe Mennonite Ministry will officiate. Interment will be in the Rowe Cemetery. Viewing will be Thursday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., and one hour prior to the services on Friday, at the Rowe Mennonite Church at 754 Pinola Road Shippensburg, PA 17257. The Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, Inc., Shippensburg, has been entrusted with Catharine’s funeral arrangements.
