Carolyn Ann “Susie” Maclay, 87, a resident of Menno Village, passed away Saturday, December 19, 2020 at her home.
Born Friday, August 25, 1933 in Waynesboro, PA, she was a daughter of the late Walter D. and Carolyn G. Goldsmith Miller.
Susie was a member of the Middle Spring Presbyterian Church. She was a 1951 graduate of the Chambersburg High School and a 1955 graduate of Mary Washington College, earning her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology.
She retired in 1986 from the Montgomery County Maryland School District where she taught Elementary School. Susie was a member of the Montgomery County Maryland Retired Teachers Association. She enjoyed riding horses in her younger years and was a great lover of dogs.
She is survived two daughters, Debra (husband Glen) Fletcher, McConnellsburg, PA and Brenda (husband Mark) Pearson, Youngsville, NC; and one grandson, Glen Edward Fletcher, Detroit, MI.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward J. Maclay, whom she married December 27, 1956 in the Central Presbyterian Church in Chambersburg.
A private graveside service will be held Wednesday, December 23, 2020 in Middle Spring Presbyterian Church Cemetery with Rev. Kimberley D. Wadlington officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter, 5051 Letterkenny Road West, Chambersburg, PA 17201.
