Caroline J. Hile

Caroline J. Hile, 96, of Shippensburg, passed away the morning of Sunday, February 16, 2025 at Celebration Villa of Shippensburg. 

She was born on Saturday, September 22, 1928 in Mowersville, PA, Franklin County, a daughter of the late Jacob Ransom and Susan I. (Hamilton) Sailhamer. She married William E. Hile on March 11, 1950. He preceded her in death on October 16, 2004.

Caroline was a 1946 graduate of Shippensburg High School and retired as a manager from Rite Aid. She was a member of AARP Chapter 2525 and Memorial Lutheran Church in Shippensburg. In her younger years, she attended Otterbein United Methodist Church. 

She is survived by two children, Lisa G. Brundzo and husband Mathew J. of Shippensburg, and William K. Hile and wife Debra of Amberson; four grandchildren, Meleah S. Hopkins of Chambersburg, Lauren M. Brundzo of Shippensburg, Jessica L. Kreigline and husband Ethan of Amberson, and Ransom W. Hile of Amberson; and two great-grandchildren, Ethan C. Stouffer and Sydnee Hottle.

In addition to her parents and spouse, she was preceded in death by four siblings, Dorothy P. Anderson, Lila E. Alleman, John R. Sailhamer, and Velva Sailhamer.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, February 23, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc. with Pastor Bruce Levy officiating. Burial will follow in the Spring Hill Cemetery. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
