Carol M. McIntyre, 88, of Shippensburg, departed this life on the afternoon of Saturday, May 22, 2021, at her home.
She was born on April 28, 1933, in Altoona, Blair Co., PA, the daughter of the late G. William and Margaret (Sweet) Mountain. Carol was a 1951 graduate of Everett High School and a 1955 graduate of Millersville State Teachers College, earning a Bachelor’s degree in library science. She married J. Ralph McIntyre on November 27, 1959 in Everett, PA. He preceded Carol in death on September 3, 1990.
Carol worked as a librarian for the Everett Area High School for over thirty years, retiring in 1998. She was a former member of both the Everett and Six Mile Run United Methodist Churches, and a current member of the Shippensburg Church of the Nazarene.
She is survived by her daughter, Amy Varner and husband Brian of Shippensburg; one son, David McIntyre of Shippensburg; two grandchildren, Andrew Varner and fiancé, Dammira Hsu of Sugar Land, TX, and Alyssa Von Drach and husband Andrew of Shippensburg; and her brother, G. William Mountain and wife Margey of Rochester, NY.
In addition to her parents and husband, Carol was preceded in death by a son, James McIntyre.
Her memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Saturday, June 26, 2021, at the Shippensburg Church of the Nazarene. Pastor Dale Detweiler will officiate. A graveside interment service was held in the Duvall Cemetery, Six Mile Run, PA., on Friday, May 30, 2021. The Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg, has been entrusted with her funeral arrangements.
