Calvin C. Horn, 79, of Shippensburg, died on the evening of March 14, 2013, at his home.
He was born on May 29, 1933, in Freestone, PA (Upper Horse Valley), a son of the late George L. and Vera E. Wright Horn.
Calvin was a veteran of the U.S. Army Airborne, enlisting on July 28, 1950 and honorably discharged on July 28, 1953. On January 26, 1962, Calvin married Ms. Maxine E. Robinson in Hagerstown, MD.
Earlier in life, Calvin worked for PennDot for a period of time, then Knouse Foods, and retired from the Beistle Company, after thirty years of employment there.
He was a member of the Oscar M. Hykes American Legion, a life member of the Hub City Club, both of Shippensburg, and liked to watch NASCAR, rooting for any driver, as long as he was driving a Ford.
Calvin is survived by his wife of 51 years, Maxine; three brothers, Emery P. (Rose) Horn, Curtis C. (Virginia) Horn, and Ted J. Horn, all of Shippensburg; two sisters, Ora Lee Gipe of Shippensburg and Beryl Walls of St. Thomas; two very special caregivers, nieces, Trudy Seibert and Diane Coons; his two beloved cats, Allie Jo and Skeeter; and many other nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Calvin was preceded in death by four brothers, Herman, Forrest, Gerald, and Richard Horn; and five sisters, Delores Rosenberry, Betty Mackey, Aldine Shields, Hattie McGee, and Loraine Hockenberry.
His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Tuesday, March 19, 2013, at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, Inc., Shippensburg. The Rev. Marlin “Butch” Neil will officiate. Interment, with military honors conducted by the Shippensburg Area Veterans Council, will follow in the Parklawns Memorial Gardens. Viewing will be one hour prior to the service on Tuesday morning at the funeral home.
