Bonnie J. Bitner, 92, of Newville, passed away Monday, November 15, 2021 at UPMC Carlisle.
Born Monday, September 23, 1929 in Newville, she was a daughter of the late Leonard K. and Isabelle M. Sollenberger Stouffer, Sr.
Bonnie was a 1947 graduate of the Newville Area Senior High School. She was a life member of the Newville First Church of God where she also taught Sunday School Class. She also was a member of the Genesis Class, the Women’s Ministries, and the Happy Helpers.
She is survived by two sons, Robert E. (Stephanie) Bitner, and Earl H. (Sharon) Bitner, all of Newville; three grandchildren, Sara M. (Michael) Kessler, Jacob A. (Jessica) Bitner, and Amy C. (companion Jean Luc) Bitner; two great granddaughters, Kendra Reimann, and Shelby Kessler; two sisters, Louise and Peg Hoover; and daughter in-law, Cris Bitner.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Earl H. Bitner, Sr. who passed away January 11, 2002; one son, Brett L. Bitner; two brothers, Leonard “Tiny” Stouffer, and John “Jack” Stouffer; and two sisters, Martha McDermond, and Charlotte Witter.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 18, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at the Newville First Church of God, with Pastor Wayne Good, and Pastor Dick Reese officiating. Burial will be in Newville Cemetery. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service in the Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Newville First Church of God, 475 Shippensburg Road, Newville, PA 17241.
