Beverly Laidig

Beverly J. Laidig, 92, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, February 13, 2023 at the age of 92.
She was born at home on Sunday, March 2, 1930 in Satillo, Huntingdon County, PA. She was the tenth child of eleven children to John B. and Olive Pearl Gress Shope, Sr.
In 1948 Bev graduated from Satillo High School. While there she played trumpet in the band and played on the basketball team. She was very active in the Methodist youth group and played piano for all their services.
In 1951, she married Donald E. Laidig, the love of her life. They celebrated 71 years of marriage until he passed away November 3, 2022.
They had one daughter, Dawn Carol Laidig Kauffman and one son in-law, Daniel M. Kauffman, who they loved as a son; one sister, Miriam Nonemaker; sisters-in-law, Doris Jean Shope and Laura Shope.
In her early years, she was a clerk typist.
Always putting family first, she took six years off to raise her daughter until she was of school age. Wanting flexible hours, she worked as a housekeeper. Lastly, she worked in the stock room of Fashion Lane Inc., Chambersburg.
Bev’s smile lit up every room, and her words were kind. She loved and stayed close to her siblings and in-laws all her life. She was a most excellent wife, mother, friend, cook, and baker. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
It was her wish to be cremated so that she could return to her beloved mountain home to be beside her husband.
Services and burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Mainsville Church c/o Gloria Chestnut (Treasurer), 43 Michael Court, Shippensburg, PA 17257.
The family has entrusted the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium Inc. to handle her funeral arrangements.
