Betty L. Williams of Camp Hill, passed away on Sunday, April 25, 2010, at Holy Spirit Hospital, just one day after her 79th birthday.
Betty was born in Pottstown, PA on April 24, 1931 to the late John Kenneth and Helen (Beltz) Mauger. She graduated from Pottstown High School in 1949 and worked as a soda jerk, then for a jewelry store and then as a telephone operator. She moved to the Harrisburg area in 1955, when she married W. Dean Williams, who predeceased her in 2007. Betty loved being a wife, mother, and homemaker. She also enjoyed visits from her grandchildren and great grandchildren, working in her garden, watching golf, ice hockey and NCIS, and traveling with Dean, whether it be for business or for pleasure to the 48 continental states, Canada, various European Countries, Bermuda, and the Caribbean.
She was a member of Baughman Memorial United Methodist Church in New Cumberland and most recently attended Christ Community Church in Camp Hill. Blessed with a beautiful soprano voice, she shared her talents with several church choirs and was a soloist at many church and social functions for over 60 years. She loved attending Messiah Village Adult Day Care. She was formerly, an active member of Steadfast Chapter #479, Order of the Eastern Star, a volunteer at Holy Spirit Hospital for many years, a member of Highland Women's Club, and many other organizations.
She is survived by her three daughters, Karen L. Thompson, who lived with her in Camp Hill, Deanna K. Williams, of Mechanicsburg, and Dawn C. Dando, of New Cumberland, grandchildren Celeste, Joshua, Sara, Hannah, Jacob, Evan, and Chantal, great grandchildren Scott, Kylee, Ilena, and Jaimie Lee. She is also survived by her brother, Russell Mauger, her sister, June Kummerer, her sister, Donna Mauger, all of Pottstown, PA and a brother, Bruce Mauger of Pughtown/Spring City, PA and many nieces and nephews.
Viewing will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, May 3rd, 2010 at Baughman Memorial United Methodist Church at Third and Bridge Streets in New Cumberland. At 7 p.m., there will be an Eastern Star service and then a funeral service conducted by the Rev. Dr. Brand Eaton, immediately following. Burial will be in Hershey Cemetery, at the convenience of the family.
