Betty J. Porter, 86, of Shippensburg, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 5, 2016 at the Orrstown Personal Care Home surrounded by her loving family.
Born Friday, March 22, 1929 in Toledo, OH, she was a daughter of the late George W. and Della M. Kane Hinkle.
Betty was a member of the Prince Street United Brethren Church in Shippensburg. Betty worked for many years at the former U-Wanna Wash Frock and Bobby Rhine Clothing Factories in Shippensburg. She enjoyed camping, dancing, and loved and cherished her family.
She is survived by one son, Donald W. (Linda) Porter, one daughter, Brenda L. (Robert) Girosky, two sisters; Virginia (Kenneth) Hoover, and Beverly Hinkle, one sister in-law, Jackie Hinkle, all of Shippensburg, three grandchildren; Jeffrey Porter, Amy Porter Hoover, and Robbie L. Girosky, six great grandchildren, and one great-great grandson.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert O. Porter who died November 15, 2010, one brother, Ed Hinkle and one sister, Grace Keesman.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home Inc., with the Rev. Arlene B. Dunn, Celtic Hospice Chaplain officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery. A viewing will be held Tuesday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday, in the funeral home.
