Betty J. Gephart, 75, of Shippensburg, departed this life on the evening of Tuesday, January 18, 2022, at UPMC Pinnacle Carlisle Hospital.
She was born on December 5, 1946, in Shippensburg, a daughter of the late Richard and Vada (Tosten) Hile. Betty married Barry F. Gephart on December 26, 1964, at the Ridge Church of the Brethren, Shippensburg.
In her younger years, Betty worked at the former Stanley Co., and the Letterkenny Army Depot, but she was primarily a homemaker and helped out quite a lot on the family farm.
Her family was extremely important to Betty. All through her life, her greatest joy was constantly caring for her girls and babysitting her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Betty was an excellent cook and would be the family member who would organize family gatherings, Sunday lunch, or countless holiday meals over the years.
In addition to her husband of fifty seven years, Barry, she is survived by two daughters, Tammy S. Bender and husband Robert of Newburg, and Kim Falvey of Shippensburg; four grandchildren, Erika Tase and husband David of Waynesboro, Kelly O’Leary and husband Devon of Shippensburg, and Tanna and Connor Falvey, both of Shippensburg; two great granddaughters, Hailey Tase and Bridget Harfst; and her sister, Janet Scott and husband Kenneth of Mercersburg; and several nieces and nephews.
Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Monday, January 24, 2022, at the Ridge Church of the Brethren, Shippensburg. The Rev. Harold E. Yeager will officiate. Interment will follow in the Spring Hill Cemetery. Viewing will be one hour prior to the service on Monday afternoon at the church.
