Betty L. Fresch, 79, of Shippensburg, died Saturday, January 8, 2011 from the result of an accident close to Frederick, MD. Her devoted husband, William E. Fresch, Sr. whom she married July 17, 1952, lost his life in the same accident.
Born August 30, 1931 in Manila, Arkansas, she was a daughter of the late John H. and Gertrude E. Smith Roney.
She was a member of the Middle Spring Presbyterian Church and a member of the Happy Tones singing group. Betty was a 1951 graduate of the Poolesville High School in Maryland and was a private pilot. She was an accomplished singer and seamstress.
She is survived by one son, Paul A. Fresch and his wife Diane of Medina, OH, two daughters; Jeanne L. Nagle and her husband William of Palmyra, and Jo Ann Rinehart and her husband Donald of Mechanicsburg, eleven grandchildren, and ten great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a son, William E. Fresch, Jr. who died November 30, 1986, a daughter Nancy L. Fresch who died October 28, 2008, and a brother Melvin S. Roney.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 16, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in the Middle Spring Presbyterian Church, 135 Middle Spring Road, Shippensburg. Officiating will be The Rev. Derek & The Rev. Kimberley Wadlington and The Rev. James Richwine. A private burial will be held in the Middle Spring Cemetery. Visitations for family and friends will be held Saturday evening from 6-8 p.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, Shippensburg and one hour prior to the services Sunday in church.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Middle Spring Presbyterian Church, 135 Middle Spring Road, Shippensburg, PA 17257 or a charity of choice.
