Betty J. Chamberlin, 84, of Shippensburg, died Sunday, July 25, 2010 in Cumberland Crossings, Carlisle.
Born August 3, 1925 in Shippensburg, PA; she was a daughter of the late James and Dollie Seavers Stine.
She was a member of Messiah United Methodist Church, Shippensburg. Betty graduated in 1943 from Shippensburg High School and then was enrolled in the Army Cadet Nurses Training program at York Hospital School of Nursing. After graduating from the program she was a Registered Nurse at Chambersburg Hospital, worked at a local Physicians office and was a Public Health Nurse with the PA Department of Health. She excelled at and enjoyed cooking, and homemaking.
She is survived by her husband Jay C. Chamberlin, one daughter, Nancy E. Opilo and her husband Matthew of Palmyra, one granddaughter, Katie E. Opilo of Lancaster, one sister, Vesta G. Clippinger of Shippensburg and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by three brothers; David A., William J., and J. Paul Stine, and two sisters; Mary E. Piper and Daisy F. Highlands.
Funeral services will be held Friday, July 30, 2010 in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home Inc., Shippensburg at 11:00 a.m. Officiating will be The Rev. Kevin E. Hughes. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery. There will be no viewing however a visitation will be held Friday morning one hour prior to the services in the funeral home.
