Betty Beckenbaugh

Betty L. Beckenbaugh, 82, of Shippensburg, died Monday, May 13, 2013 in the Chambersburg Hospital.

She was born June 27, 1930 in Shippensburg, Franklin County. Betty was a daughter of the late Robert E. and Pauline E. Green Bard.

She was a member of Messiah United Methodist Church in Shippensburg, a member of the Good Samaritan Sunday School Class and was active in many different church functions. Betty retired from the Shippensburg Area School District where she worked in the cafeteria. Years ago she worked at Art Biglers Grocery Store and Weavers Cut-Rate, both were in Shippensburg. For many years Betty volunteered for Meals-on-Wheels. She was a 1948 graduate of the former Shippensburg High School.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William R. Beckenbaugh, Sr. who died November 6, 1994.

She is survived by one son, William R. Beckenbaugh, Jr. and his wife Deborah of Shippensburg, two daughters, Barbara J. Keefer and her husband Robert, and Beverly J. Rosenberry and her fiance’ Quentin Kubala all of Shippensburg, six grandchildren, Jason and Derek Beckenbaugh, Brian Keefer, Jaime Halbleib, and Eric and Nathan Rosenberry, two great-grandchildren, Kaydee Beckenbaugh and Nicholas Halbleib, four brothers, Robert and John Bard of Shippensburg, William Bard of Hershey, and Larry Bard of Little River, SC, one sister Jane Chamberlin of Shippensburg, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 18, 2013 in Messiah United Methodist Church at 10:30 a.m. Officiating will be Rev. Kevin E. Hughes and Rev. Dr. Francis H. Norton. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery. A viewing will be held Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home Inc., Shippensburg.
