Bertha Mae Rogers, 82, of Carlisle, formerly of Shippensburg, passed away Wednesday, July 20, 2016 in the Select Specialty Hospital at Camp Hill.
She was born October 2, 1933 in English, West Virginia. Bertha was a daughter of the late Toy and Ada O’Quinn Jackson.
She was a member of the Church of God Pentecostal, Shippensburg.
Bertha was a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, pastor's wife, and friend. Her time was spent mostly on relationships. Family was very important to her and she readily declared how proud she was of each one of them. She loved to read her Bible and stay informed about current events. She enjoyed all these things, as well as, a good jigsaw puzzle and a hot cup of tea. If she met you on the street, or in a hospital hallway she would strike up a conversation and eventually ask you, "Do you know Jesus loves you?"
Bertha is survived by her husband The Rev. Doyle B. Rogers whom she married July 27, 1952, two daughters, E. Ruth (Thomas) Provins of Newville, and Deonna C. (Roger) Price of Loysville, six sons, Kenneth D. (Lynn) Rogers of Baltimore, James J. Rogers of Lutherville, MD, Jonathan D. (Patricia) Rogers, Sr. of Oakville, Frederick L. (Winna) Rogers of Joppatown, MD, Daniel R. Rogers of Dundalk, MD, and Samuel D. (Nancy) Rogers of Carlisle, 24 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, two brothers, David Jackson of Johnstown, OH, and Gerald Jackson of Newark, OH, six sisters, Lucille Beard of Atlanta, GA, Rubye Kosko of Granite, MD, Ava Marsh of Farmington, NM, Dorothy Bass of Midland, VA, Elva Lynn Cartwright of Waterflow, NM, and Carol Stanley of Heath, OH, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one son, Joseph F. Rogers, one grandson, James J. Rogers, II, six brothers, and one sister.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Shippensburg. Officiating will be Rev. Dennis Hudson, and Rev. Chris Faylor. Burial will be held in Parklawns Memorial Gardens. A viewing will be held Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Church of God Pentecostal, 2323 Walnut Bottom Road, Carlisle, PA 17015.
